remixes

summer of 2020, lockdown era pandemic i along with an extended team of friends participated in this fever dream phenomena called racertrash. about once a month, we’d divvy up a full feature film across multiple editors (usually a baker’s dozen depending on duration of the film), and reassemble our respective segments or β€˜segs’ of the film into one whole new work, and premiere it on twitch.tv with a live chat, which spawned so many inside baseball jokes i’ve lost track of the etymology of most crazy things my friends and i say to one another. over time the dynamic of the group shifted to a new collective, dream video division (or dvd), an even more experimental outfit.

the collectives were comprised of a vast wealth of talent, and were invited to participate in TIFF Midnight Madness, Cucalorus, Surfalorus, Fantastic Fest, Overlook Film Festival, and the infamous Taco Bell Film Festival. racertrash was also featured in The Verge (and you can read a little from yours truly here).

all of these works are a delicate mix of exploring existing media within new context while carrying the torch of humor, exploration, and championing every choice to drive immersion with an audience. where else can we go with movies? a question i ask myself often.
